Chasqui Messengers

Musicians

A cold winter a few years back a group of us friends who had some or none experience of drumming came together and started to practice once a week for the whole winter and spring that year. We were able to practice at a place where our friends from Bolivia use for their traditional dances. Their group was called Chasqui, Chasqui was a messenger in the old Inka empire. So to honour them we call our group Chasqui Messengers. Over the years since then the group has evolved in to two different groups, one is the group of the original members that play more seriously and also do performances, and the other group that we have is open for new members and friends that don’t have much experience so they can join and practice with us. The members of Chasqui Messengers are all living in Sweden but have origins from all over the world, so the riddims we play have influence from all over.
